Hi everyone, welcome to my blog, today’s blog is on baby names. As the title says I’ll be focusing mainly on female names with a color meaning, so if you are about to have a child and thinking of naming your baby with a specific color in mind stick around.

Without further ado, here is the list of the names:

1. Amber

Amber is from an English origin and means fossilized tree resin or as most of us know it’s an orange red color. The resin that comes from the tree is yellowish red in color. This name means jewel in the English version but can also mean fierce in the Gaelic language. On babynames.com, this name is currently number 441 in the US and is the top 100 popularity charts.

2. Ciara

Ciara is of Irish original and means black haired or dark skinned actually. In the US it ranks at number 882. In Irish it is actually pronounce keera. And has been know to be spelled with an h at the end, wish I somewhat like better.

3.Coral

I absolutely love the color coral which is more of a orange pink color. It’s possibly my favorite color. This name is from an English origin and means reef formation. It currently ranks at number 986 in the US and I wouldn’t be mad if it went up the list. Just like Amber, this name also is a jewel name.

4.Ginger

Next on the list is Ginger. It’s a reddish orange color that means pure. Imagine having a red headed girl and naming her ginger. I think it would be pretty adorable. It ranks at 998 in the US so it still pretty popular.

5.Hazel

Hazel is next and I love that name. It’s so timeless and I feel like this name is making a major comeback. Hazel is from an English origin and in the Bible it means to see, such as God sees or has seen. The color hazel in an of itself is a really pretty greenish brown color and some people relate it to the eye color. A variations of that name is Haisley (meaning beautiful person) which I absolutely love.

6.Lola

Next is Lola. Lola means violet and has a greek origin. It can actually means a couple of different things depending on which origin you are looking at. The Spaniards and Philippinos take it to mean lady of sorrow, which is you are in Spain it was ranked number 239 in 2018.

7.Iris

Iris is next. It means colorful or rainbow and is of Greek origin. It’s also and ancient symbol of power and was dedicated to the God Juno. It’s also the part of our eyes that has color. So it can be taken to mean very different things depending on your preferences. It’s really by up the US birth names ranking at number 138.

8.Ivory

Next name is Ivory. Ivory is actually considered a unisex name and means white or pure. It’s a little darker than white and it’s still in the white family. I was thinking is you we’re having twins and you wanted a name that matched you could pair ivory with ginger and they would literally both mean pure. What do you guys think of that idea?

9.Scarlett

Scarlett is next. Scarlett is another one of those old fashioned names that I feel you don’t hear that much anymore. It gained its popularity due to the character scarlet O’Hara from gone with the wind. It’s associated with a deep red color and can be spelled with one or two ts or with an e at the end. Scarlett right now is number 20 in the ranking which is great.

10. Violet

Violet is last but certainly not least. Violet is a purple blue flower. It’s mainly popular in England but because of flower name gaining popularity in the US , this name has also gained people’s interest as it is number 43 in the ranking.

That’s is all the baby name for today’s blog. Next week I’ll be tackling in boy color name. If you like this blog make usre you subscribe for more.

Just want to put a disclaimer out there, these are just my favorite names and I mean no disrespect for other names. I also want to say that I’m not a mom and I’ve never named a baby before but I’ve seen baby name videos a lot and I wanted to give my own input out there.

Thank you,

Annie Black
